Kit List

It is important to be at ease on your ride, so wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. Don’t forget, if you buy online through the links below you will also be helping the NSPCC.

  • Bicycle suitable for riding on roads and off-road cycle tracks.
  • Cycle helmet. Helmets must be worn and in good order; to ANSI, SNELL or E standards.
  • Water bottle that can fit on your bike, it's important to keep hydrated whilst out on your ride.
  • Sun cream. Apply a high factor (20+) especially on exposed places such as neck, back of arms and legs.
  • Lightweight waterproof jacket and trousers
  • Cycling shorts that are padded to ensure a comfy ride.
  • Gloves
  • Cycling shoes. Trainers (if you are using normal pedals or toe clips) or clip in shoes (if using SPD pedals or similar).
  • Puncture repair kit or spare inner tube and kit.
  • Bicycle pump that fits on to your bike.
  • Bicycle multi tool to use if you need to adjust anything whilst out on your ride.
  • Rucksack or saddle bag to keep your kit in.
  • Reflective gear and lights - you probably wont need these for most of our rides but if you think you'll be riding at night you must ensure you are fully visible to other road users.
  • Sunglasses to protect your eyes, not only from the sun but also from bugs and other debris like flying mud.
  • First aid kit containing plasters, bandages, tape, safety pins and antiseptic cream (there will be medics on route at our BIG ONEs but you may find it quicker to patch up minor cuts and bruises yourself).
